Tips For Time Management – Enlightening The College Goers

Nobody forgets college easily. What is the reason? It is probably the toughest and hardest stage in any person’s life. It asks for a lot of adjustment and preparations.
College life is filled with challenges. Students face unimaginable hurdles and obstacles which need to be overcome. Students need to work very, very hard to prove to everyone and to themselves as well that they deserve to get into college and successfully finish it.
Among of the most significant things needed by students to face these problems successfully is the talent to manage time. College students need to know how o effectively manage time to suit their needs as and when required.
Wise time management makes college life much easier. Missing appointments and academic deadlines can cause unnecessary and avoidable difficulties in the student’s social and academic life. Such practices could also lead to anxiety, stress, frustrations, guilt and some other negative feelings.
Here are some tips aimed at college students to help them manage their time properly.
• Prioritize. It is probably the most important aspect proper management of time. Prioritizing your responsibilities and engagements is vital. There are way too many students out there who have no idea how to prioritize leading to procrastination.
• Make a ‘to do list’. This is not the same as a schedule. Instead, it is just a listing of important things to be done.
• Stop trying to be a perfectionist. God created nothing that’s perfect. By trying to be just right, you only set yourself up for a fall.
• Setting goals. This is vital for good time management. You need to set goals which are not just attainable, but are also challenging.
• Multitask. Combine many different activities and do them at the same time. Like doing your bills during the commercial breaks in a sitcom. This could free up a lot of time for you.
• Make a survey of your personal time. This helps you to realize how much time is spent by you in different activities. For proper time management, this is vital. To do this, track the amount of time you spend doing various things in a day or a week to gain an idea of the amount of time you spend on various activities. Also, this will help you identify waste of time.
• Make a daily schedule and follow it. Different styles of schedules are available which you can use. Try to use one which suits your personality. Some of the commonly used styles are cards, engagement books, a poster pinned to the wall among a lot o other things. Once you have decided upon which style to use, make it immediately. Put in everything that is necessary into it inclusive of your personal needs.
• Take notes and regularly go through them before the end of the day. This would help you identifying the things which you did correctly and those which you did incorrectly and help in the development of your time management skills.
• You need to develop the ability to say no when you need to. For example, when you have something important to do, your friend invites you to a movie. You should be able to prioritize your needs and be able to tell him no. You can always see the movie later.
Proper management of time is vital for college students. Learning this early on and being able to apply it without even thinking about it will help them out in their life in the long run. This will be vital tool in helping them live life they way they dreamed of.

Not using effective time management tips could make you lose a lot of time to bond with your family and friends, maintain a romantic relationship, and take care of yourself.

If you’re not efficient in time management, you tend to be too focused on work priorities, forgetting that there is more to life than just that. This article hopes to shed some light.

Time Management Tip # 1: Set Priorities.

This is what people with poorly managed time have been struggling with. They tend to be too panicky with a lot of things to do in just a day.

To be able to manage, think about all your tasks and organize them according to your priorities. When prioritizing, do not just think about work, but also consider things that are important for your personal life.

To start with this time management tip, give yourself a few minutes everyday and list down everything you would have to do for the next day. Set specific schedules for each task for you to be able to think ahead. This time management tip would help you greatly, especially if you think you have too much to do with so little time.

Time Management Tip # 2: Follow A Good Routine.

Routine is a good example of having well-managed time. When you are following a routine, things would seem to come out of you automatically without you having to think about it.

So in managing time, try to fit in an everyday routine of which you feel comfortable with, and try to stick with that as much as possible.

Because nothing is constant, you should also be aware that you would have to break your routine every once in a while. Even if this happens, learn to be flexible and adjust your schedules and priorities accordingly.

Easy Tips for Overcoming Procrastination

The majority of us have all taken part in the fine art of procrastination. It probably started in school when you waited for the very last minute to write that paper or study for that test.

Overcoming procrastination is no easy feat but with a little determination and few smart tips you will learn not to put off what can be done today.

Confess

The first step to solving any problem is to admit you have that problem. The second step is acknowledging you want to solve that problem and will do what it takes to overcome the issue. So repeat after me, “I am a chronic procrastinator.

I will do whatever I must to rid myself of this nasty habit.”  Congratulations! You have taken your first step toward a new “do it now” you!

Why Do You Procrastinate?

There are three basic reasons you procrastinate. First of all, like many of us, you like to put off unpleasant tasks.  You might know you have to perform a task, such as visit the dentist for a 6-month cleaning.

Yet you know this task is not very fun, as you will lose time from work, your teeth will be sore, and the hygienist just might find a cavity or two and you will have to go back and have them filled.  Another reason you probably put off tasks is there is something you much prefer doing.

Why visit the dentist when that time can be spent earning money at work or getting a pedicure? The final reason you tend to put off a task is it seems overwhelming. Maybe you do not mind getting your teeth cleaned but finding a time when you are not busy, then driving all the way over to the office in traffic, and having to sit and wait seems a bit overwhelming to you. Whatever the reason, the next step to overcoming procrastination is to find a way to circumvent these reasons.   

Just Do It!

If you are facing a task you do not want to do then you need to get some leverage over the unpleasant task. Offer yourself a reward.  If I go to the dentist I can buy that new blouse I love. Or, find a friend who loves to nag.  

Tell that person to keep asking you about the dentist until you cannot stand it anymore and finally make the appointment.  Imagine what would happen if you did not complete the task. If you do have a cavity it will get bigger and you will end up with a horrendous toothache.  

If there is another task you would prefer than make that your reward. If you would rather get a pedicure than go to the dentist make an appointment for a pedicure right after you have your teeth cleaned. Immediate gratification is a great motivator for an unpleasant task.

If you feel overwhelmed by the task try to break it up into smaller tasks. This is a very effective way of overcoming procrastination.  On day 1 spend 10-15 minutes finding a few different times that would be acceptable to visit the dentist.

On day 2 call and make the appointment. On day 3 plot the shortest distant to the dentist to save you time.  On day 4 plan on what you will bring with you to keep you busy in case you have to wait. By focusing on a different portion of the task at hand in small intervals the task will not seem so imposing.

Keeping it Up

Hurrah for you! You made it to the dentist.  But do not stop there. Every task in front of you tempts you to slip back into your old habits. Overcoming procrastination is a never-ending battle. There are a few other tips you can try to win the fight.

Practice good time management and organizational skills. Spend a few minutes every night planning the next day. Set a schedule and stick to it.

If a task seems to be running over its allotted time then stop when time runs out and add it to your list for the next day. And do not expect miracles. You will not stop procrastinating overnight.

Do you find it difficult to stay on task or stay focused? Do you often late to your appointments or do you constantly running late on your project deadlines? If the answers are yes then there is a high chance that you need to work on and improve your time management.  The good thing is there are a number of simple tips that can help you improve your time management. I have outlined a few tips bellow.

First thing you would want to do to improve your time management is to set some time management goals for yourself. They can be different things like you can set as a main goal is to improve your overall time management within the specific time frame like a month. Also you need to set more specific goals like getting your work in on time, arriving to appointment on time etc. Whatever goals you choose to set make sure you stick to them and achieve them as it is very important step in improving your time management.

Another thing you need to do to improve your time management is to find where you have a problem or problems. The questions you have to ask yourself is what is causes you to waste time? There is a high chance that you probably already know. If you don’t here is a little test you can do to answer this question. Go through your normal day and just record what times you get distracted and for what in doing so you will find your answer. Once you have you answer, try to reduce it or eliminated it.

Also it is important to know that there are a few time management tools available out there for you to use. But you should note that these tools should not be relied on daily but you should use them to help you establish a routine. Some of the tools may include thing like daily planner’s alarm clocks, reminders, etc. You should not that your cell phone will have all of those features so use it for important meeting appointments etc.

A to do list is quite an important tool in time managements which you can use as it will help you to structure your day in a way that you can get everything done. Another thing you may want to do is to prioritize your to do list and order the tasks in order of importance. This will add a sense of urgency and importance and will help you concentrate on the tasks.

Probably the best way to manage your time is for you to stay organized. Some research actually showed that poor organization is a main cause of wasting time. Try and keep your desk at work and at home clean and organized so you do not waste time looking for things. Also keep the items at home organized as well this will help you spend less time looking and more time doing. Same principal applies to the rest of your life.

The tips which mentioned above should help you improve your time management on your own. But in saying that you also should remember that sometimes it is ok to seek professional help. So if you struggling with your time management and nothing seem to help then you should look for a professional help.  Also you may want to consider hiring someone to help you out with some of your tasks just so you can catch up and get back into routine.

By using some or all of the tips suggested above you should be able to improve the use of your time and become more productive. And you should know that there are many benefits at home and at work when you properly mange your time.

In this new age and day, everybody is trying to be more organized. Reason is we sometimes act lazily due to which we are unable to manage our time in a proper way. But we all need to realize about the importance of time management so that we can successfully achieve our goals and objectives of life. You should also read articles on current affairs. Enhance your knowledge as much as you can so that you won’t have problem to be a successful man of this world. You might spend ample of hours on watching T.V. It’s not bad to watch T.V but it’s not good to waste your time on it.

You should have a paper and pen to make a to-do list. It’s important because when you write down things you do every day, you don’t have to recall them over and again while brainstorming. From your wakeup time to sleeping time, you should write down all the activities. After putting your daily schedule on paper, now you have to think about your wasting time activities. These are the activities which don’t give you any type of fruitful result. You get yourself indulged in these activities for the purpose of time passing. Why you are doing this? You can utilize this time superbly by adopting best time management skills.

If you are surfing on net then you shouldn’t waste your time on chatting. Instead, you can do several useful things on net. For example, you should open those types of websites through which you can get utmost knowledge. Know about the history of different events which are happened in the past. When you feel yourself helpless to organize according to the time passes by then you need to look at following time management tips which will give you good feelings. The first thing you have to do is to lock yourself in a noise free room, where you can obtain much leverage to think about your daily routine.

If you are a office going person then you have to go through a very tough routine. In this manner, the only thing you have to do is to maintain your life. After coming back to your office, you should relax your mind by watching T.V and by having chit chat with your family.

• Let them know what you expect from them before you give them the task. It is vital that they know exactly what you need from them.
• Speak directly and clearly to them and use simple language.
• You can give them assignments so that they can practice their skills at home.
• Provide them with extra materials so that they can learn more.
• Keep you expectations realistic. Never give them tasks you know they cannot finish, but always give them some room to improve their tasks.
• Appreciate the tasks that they complete and the effort they put in.
These are some things you can do to help disabled students manage their time properly. You need to be patient as results will take some time to manifest themselves.
