Stop Procrastination and Apply Time Management Strategies

Procrastination is the act of postponing doing a project or task until another time. Time management is the exercise of certain procedures in order to accomplish goals or complete tasks or projects on a timely basis.
How do you know if you are a procrastinator? If you continually use excuses to postpone things that need to be done, if you do not get projects done on time, if you are constantly running behind schedule, then you are probably a procrastinator.
How do you stop procrastination? You need to establish a time management plan for yourself. Set specific times to do specific job tasks and allow precise time to do each task. Do not let yourself make excuses to avoid sticking to your plan.
One way to make sure you can overcome procrastination is to make a habit of getting things done. It takes 21 days to form a habit. It has been said that if you practice doing a new activity for 21 days it will become a habit.
What worked for me is that I kept track of what I did each day from the time I woke up in the morning until I went to bed at night. I did this for a couple of days. I was surprised to find out how much time was wasted doing nothing.
Set priorities for yourself. The best way to get organized is to make a list of the tasks that need to be done from most important to least important. Set a time or time period to do each task so each task gets done. Start with the daily tasks that need to be done. Do these before doing activities that are more distracting, like answering e-mail, checking in on the social media sites, making telephone calls or listing to voice mails.
Once you get your daily activities prioritized, you can then begin to start setting into motion those same management skills you are developing and apply them to task that need to be done monthly, quarterly or yearly. Make sure that you plan some flexibility into your schedule should a sudden change in plans occur.
The next step is to step up and do the work. Do not let yourself procrastinate with the tasks at hand. Remember, we are doing time management so do not let procrastination steal valuable time from you.
Staying motivated to continue working at the pace you have set for yourself is not always easy. It is up to you to keep that motivation going. What I have found to help is to keep track of what I have already accomplished and I feel better by knowing I have achieved my goals.
Having effective time management will improve your personal life not only be relieving stress, but also will have an overall positive effect on your health. When you put time management strategies into action, it will have a positive impact on your business. When it comes to running your business, time management becomes all the critical and demanding.
Be realistic, you are never going to get more than 24 hours in a day, so managing your time better is what you need to do.
Time management strategies are useful for everyone in both their personal lives and in their businesses if they want to succeed. A nonchalant attitude will not get you the achievement you are striving for.

Time Management Strategies

Time Management is one of the important and most powerful tool that a successful man always carries. Effective time management involves patience and practical thinking. It’s really difficult to manage time. But once you know the secret it will be much easier. When you decide and get right down to it, it becomes much easier. Time management is really about managing your actions. We all want to maintain the process of time management to allow us to perform more actions in the day, getting everything done that needs to be done and giving us time to do the things we enjoy doing. But time management may be called a magical remedy for getting the actions done that you need to do.

Truly speaking time management is not a new concept. From the ancient times, it has been carried on. Time cannot be managed automatically but one needs to manage time. So really time management is self-management, so start by identifying your time wasters.

We all know that there are many things that distracts our attention and wastes our time. For e.g., a telephone interrupts our work, visitors divert our attention, stress, fatigue, procrastination, poor planning, unclear objectives, and disorganization all are time wasters.

The best way to manage time is to carve more hours out of a day and take control of the schedules, organize it better and you will find time is automatically managed. It is seen that if you organize your schedule your task doubles. In achieving a desired goal, a positive outlook is required. You must be excited with the challenges and tasks that you have to do to give you the right start or motivation.

One of the chief reasons why we manage our time is because we have a goal or destination in our life which must be achieved in a specific time. Without results or goals, there would be no need to manage or even care about time. In this fast competitive world one needs to value time orelse he will loose the competition. Though it was quite possible quite a few days back that we could live each day moment to moment, not worrying about the passage of time. Unfortunately, today’s world demands that we make the most of each minute.

Management is one of the most sort skills in today’s world. Time management skills are your abilities to recognize and solve personal time management problems. The goal of these time management lessons is to show you what you can do to improve those skills.

Always remember that with proper time management skills you are in control of your schedule and your life, and reduce your stress and energy levels. You make progress at work. You are able to maintain balance between your work, personal, and family lives. You have enough flexibility to respond to surprises or new opportunities.

It should be kept in mind that time Management skills are essential for any successful people – these are the practical techniques which have helped the leading people in business, sport and public service reach the pinnacles of their careers. The skills we explain help you become highly effective by showing you how to identify and focus on the activities that give you the greatest returns. Investing in these time management activities will actually save you time, helping you work smarter, not harder.

Business blogs require the establishment of certain time management strategies in order to be effectively managed on a day to day basis. Most bloggers are passionate about what they do but the tasks involved still put to test their time management skills. Being that most blogs are managed by just one person it is critical to learn to make use of time in the most efficient way possible. Being there is certain common ‘time killers’ in our daily routines it is best to identify and remove them from our schedules.

Here are 5 time management tips that any busy site owner can use to make better use of their efforts invested in managing their business blogs.

Avoid Checking Email

This is the easiest ‘trap’ for anyone working online to fall into. Email tends to be a bottomless hole of useless information that is VERY effective at burning time and LOTS of it. If you must check your email assign a particular and limited amount of time in which to do so.

The best time to do this would be when you are not at your productive best since viewing email requires little focus or energy.

Limit Time

Call upon the use of your time management skills when performing various tasks and do not allow yourself to casually complete them. Treat each and every task with a certain sense of urgency since business blogs are for earning an income. Your blog is not for your own casual entertainment so treat it and your time in a serious manner and your bank account will thank you for it.

Work in Time Sets

To help you maintain your focus and energy level break up your day by working on only a small number of related tasks at a time. Upon their completion take yourself a quick break to stay ‘fresh’ and be at your best for your next series of work assignments. This also helps make the work day seem shorter.

Forget Email Auto-Notifications

There is no need for you to be ‘automatically’ notified every time your get a new friend or follower on facebook or twitter. This is nothing more than additional e-junk-mail you have to contend with and another distraction is NOT what you need.

Time Your Work

Give yourself a preset amount of time to work on something than move on to another assignment. This will force you to focus more and learn to be more efficient with your use of time. You can also ‘compete’ against yourself by trying to get more done in the time allowed.

Successful business blogs require the completion of a myriad of tasks that can only be done through the use of certain time management strategies. Blog owners need to learn how to make use of time more efficiently in order to perform all the necessary duties their site requires. The 5 time management tips suggested above help to rid any blogger of those meaningless activities that infiltrate their work schedule. By re-introducing these time management skills back into you day it can now be spent on more productive activities.

4 Workable Time Management Strategies

Time management is a concept that many people naturally have difficulty with, but with the right time management strategies, there is no reason why you cannot take charge of your time and change your life. Here are four time management strategies that need considering if you are feeling like you do not have enough time, or that you are not getting the most out of your time. By taking on just one of these strategies at a time, you can radically alter how effectively you manage time and hence how much quicker you’ll reach your goals.

1 – Simplify. There are a lot of different processes in your life that can be simplified as a means of managing your time better. Simplify how much stuff you have to cut down on the time you spend dealing with clutter, or simplify the number of tasks you have to do in a day so that you can space your tasks our more realistically. If you have complicated ways to handle certain tasks, consider working to simplify them as well. By thinking in this way, you can make many processes in your daily life more straight forward and less time intensive, which can save you a significant amount of time by the end of the day.

2 – Schedule Weekly Reviews and Re-Evaluations. By sitting down at some point during the week and looking at your time management effectiveness throughout that previous week, you can start to alter your routines and actions until they are more time effective. Every week you need to make a point to review your current time management plan and strategies, and re-evaluate them as necessary. What is working? What isn’t working? This is an excellent foundation to begin from when further fine tuning the management of your time.

3 – Develop Routines. By developing routines, you will always have a good idea of what needs to be accomplished and when. Routines are excellent at encouraging both action and momentum, so if you feel like you are not getting enough done in a day, or if you feel like your time management strategies could use a pick me up, developing routines may be just the strategy for time management that you need. Create routines for different facets of your life, such as tackling morning duties at work, or weekly cleaning. When you do not have to speculate what to do because your routine is laid out for you already, you will find yourself saving a lot of time.

4 – Start Small. Time management is not something you can suddenly master. Instead, you need to start small by identifying the biggest time management problems that you need to tackle, and tackling each one individual. Chip away at your time management follies one by one until you see yourself saving time and getting more done. By taking things slow and starting small, you can better conquer your time management rather than simply becoming overwhelmed by everything involved in such a large life change.
